Ian is in the new Hobbit.

He made an announcement a month ago at the Total Film Previews in London, saying he hoped to work with Guillermo Del Toro. It was a video feed to Del Toro which we all saw on screen with him sitting on stage. So, if that wasn't a clear indication of Ian wanting to work with him and on the new Hobbit, then I don't know what is.

Sure the formalities are in the works and it has to be signed off here and there, but even Peter Jackson said he wants to have him in the new movies.

The good part about Ian's role is that Gandalf looks the way he looks in Lord of the Rings. After all he's really old to begin with so it won't make much difference for him the amount of time between these two films.

I think it will work...

The ONLY character who'll be a bit hard to fit will be Bilbo, but even that can be managed with some CGI (like X-men 3).

I agree, be more creative and don't use so much CGI! I was at a preview for I am Legend before it hit the theaters... man I was so disappointed in the CGI zombies...

Actually... in "I am Legend"... they are more like Vampires than zombies.
Don't worry... An Anti-fortress gun can not touch me, because I am not a fortress.

Super valg - Del Toros animatronics fungerer også mere end perfekt. Se bare faunen eller The Pale Man i Pans Labyrint - det ville aldrig have gået med CGI.

Længe leve makeupeffekter!

Ud med CGI!
